Major Update for The Craft Apothecary!

We are very excited to announce a new partnership between The Craft Apothecary and Owatonna Makerspace (previously called the Southeast MN Makerspace).

The Craft Apothecary is one part secondhand art and craft supply store and one part creative work area with shared tools and equipment for everyone to use. Emily Pearson, founder of The Craft Apothecary, is passionate about building a community where creativity can thrive. “We’re giving leftover and forgotten craft supplies a second life, offering affordable materials, and creating a welcoming space for classes, workshops, and open studio time. It’s about inspiring people to create—together.”

Owatonna Makerspace is a place where people come together to collaborate, teach, create, and design new products. Nancy Ness, Director for Makerspace, is focusing on what it can do for Owatonna and southeast Minnesota as a whole. “We are looking across the region for artists, crafters, and people who are skilled at various trades and hobbies, such as metal work, lapidary, silver-smithing, glass blowing, screen printing, and photography, etc.”

Both organizations will be teaching classes, offering opportunities for makers to work side-by-side, sparking collaboration that leads to new ideas, shared skills, and a stronger creative community for young and old.

Another exciting topic is the new location for these organizations.  Sean Williams, OABDC Executive Director, and Lisa Cochran, Owatonna Main Street Director, worked tirelessly with numerous people and local and public organizations to provide us the opportunity to move into a new location at 115 E. Rose Street.  This is such a great location in the central part of downtown Owatonna and it provides us with ample space for our needs.  We are so grateful for all their work and dedication to this endeavor!  Thank you Lisa and Sean!

There is quite a bit of work to do at our new facility, but we are so pleased with the opportunities available in this new space that we can’t help but be truly excited to open our doors for the first time. If anyone is interested in cleaning and/or painting walls, please don’t hesitate to let either of us know.  We will likely try to schedule a day to work at the site.

Watch for grand opening and donation days for any art and craft supplies in the coming weeks.
