I owe the blog an update! Things are happening in the background to get The Craft Apothecary + Owatonna Makerspace and Rose Street Center up and going.
Donation & Volunteer Day

Our first Donation & Volunteer Day was a huge success — thank you to everyone who showed up with boxes, bags, and bins full of supplies! We collected over 1,100 pounds of art and craft supplies. Also a big thank you to the volunteers that were able to show up and sort donations as they came through and let us put them to work moving a few things around to get the Owatonna Makerspace and Craft Apothecary ready for the next steps!
If you missed our first donation day, no problem at all! We'll be hosting additional donation and volunteer days before we open. There are some accessibly updates that need to be made so we'll hold off until the construction is done and cleaned up. We'll announce additional days here on the website and on our Facebook page. Visit our Donations page for a list of donations that we are accepting.
Corks & Crafts with Grapeful Wine Bar

On Sunday the 9th we partnered with Grapeful Wine Bar and hosted our first Corks & Crafts event, and it was such a fun afternoon! Everyone got hands-on making their choice of craft while sipping great wine and sharing lots of laughs. Seeing people connect, create, and inspire each other is exactly what The Craft Apothecary is all about. I was able to put some of those donations to use and with plenty of corks from Grapeful Wine Bar we were able to create some fun things!
Rose Street Center

As mentioned above, there are some accessibility changes that are needed for the back half of the building before we can continue work on The Craft Apothecary and Owatonna Makerspace areas but we've been given the green light to use the front of the building including the Community Room.
Sunday CrafterNoons
So THAT means we can kick off our Sunday CrafterNoon community craft time!
Sunday, November 23rd will be the first of many Sunday CrafterNoons—a relaxed, open creative time where you can bring whatever you’re working on and craft alongside others.

It’s a low-pressure, come-as-you-are afternoon. Bring your project from home, or pick up one of the craft kits we’ll have available. We’ll also set out a small try-it bar if you’re in the mood to experiment with something new. We'll have tables and chairs set up you bring your craft and maybe a snack!
We’re extra excited for this first one because Nancy Ness from the Owatonna Makerspace will be joining us with quilling supplies, teaching anyone who wants to learn how to make beautiful paper ornaments like the ones she creates.
Settle in, get cozy, and spend the afternoon making, chatting, and unwinding.
Register here to reserve your spot!
